A friend recently asked me what was more challenging to photograph, newborns or toddlers. Hmmm... Each have their own challenges, every session is different but all fantastic! For newborns, I may have a baby that sleeps soundly or I may have a newborn that likes to keep an eye on things, not sleeping a wink - either way, they're beautiful and precious. With toddlers, I can chalk up those sessions to a work-out complete with cardio and strength training ;-) My goal is to make sure everyone is having fun! I may or may not have to embarrass myself by singing and dancing and so what if they're laughing AT me, toddler giggles are the best!
Enter the Pelcin family... Several years ago, Kim and Andy reached out to me and asked me to photograph their wedding. ME?! Yes, me. My first official photo session was a wedding!! EKKK! I was honored, nervous, scared, excited... Oh, and pregnant!! I felt like someone needed to pinch me, it was unreal. It was an amazing experience and I will forever be grateful for the opportunity, it gave me the push I needed to pursue my passion.
Now, you are probably wondering what toddlers and newborns have to do with the Pelcins... Other than their wedding, my clients have all been young families. It dawned on me - I have never photographed teenagers before <time to panic>. If I do my usual song and dance to the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme song, will that make them crack a smile? What about peek-a-boo?! Gah! No, I can't, that won't work, it definitely will not work. I mean, look at these kids, I was never that cool...

Within a few minutes of starting our session, I realized I hit the photographer's jackpot! Seriously, these kids are awesome!! I can't say it enough. And now it's time for me to stop yammering, you're here to see photos of Will, Kate, Zack, and Mackenzie ;-) Enjoy!!

And then this happened...

Mixing in the silly, although normal everyday moments into our session, I think helped lighten the mood ;-) And then look at this, a photo of SIX people all looking at the camera, at the same time, and I didn't have to do anything but say "look here" - wow! LOVE THIS FAMILY!! Kim and Andy, your family is AWESOME! Thank you!!
